In stead of spinning I have decided to give Areobics a shot while we are here in Oaxaca. I went on Wednesday to a Max Punch (somewhat like kickboxing class). If I looked gangly and awkward on a bike, multiply it by 10 when you add music and dance moves! The class was super fun and I was sore although the form of the instructor would make most kickboxing instructors cringe. The idea seemed much more to get a workout rather than worry ones self over weather you would hit your attacker or yourself in the face while throwing an upper cut punch.
Then Thursday was Jazz. The only word to descibe this class is FABULOUS. It was alot like the very popular Jazzercize classes that were super popular in the 80s. We were all wearing our tennis shoes and shasaying across the floor. My gringa rhythm was in full effect. I had so much fun. I only wish I had a video to post for you all. I learned a fabulous routine and my legs and arms are sore!
On a more normal excerize note. I went for a run this morning with the son of the family that lives nearby and owns a store that we frequent. They also host students and we have become friendly with some of the students living there as well as with Luis, their oldest son. We actually didn't end up running because we both had sore throats but we walked in a hilly area above Oaxaca that wonderful views. It feels good to be able to start friendships in Spanish!
